OUR VERDICT

Is it right for you?

Choose this V3 if you want a dedicated desk keyboard with room to change keys and switches over time. The tenkeyless layout makes sense when you want arrow keys and a function row but rarely use a number pad. Skip it if Bluetooth, a compact travel setup, or silent operation is essential. We have not tested typing feel or sound.

Before you buy

Why tenkeyless can be a useful middle ground

A TKL keyboard keeps a navigation cluster and function row while removing the number pad. For a desk with limited room, that can give your mouse more space without asking you to relearn a much smaller layout. If you enter numbers all day, the missing pad is a meaningful compromise.

Customization is a reason to buy

Keychron documents QMK/VIA remapping and hot-swappable switches for the V3. You can start with the supplied setup and make changes later. Learning remapping tools and choosing replacement switches takes time, so these features matter most when you want that flexibility. We have not evaluated the supplied Red switches or the keyboard's sound.

Avoid mixing up the V3 versions

The link selects the original wired V3 in Frosted Black, with K Pro Red switches and no rotary knob, ASIN B0B2DKNC4G. V3 Max, V3 8K, barebones kits, and knob versions are separate configurations. Check the selected option and included components on Amazon: a similar name does not guarantee the same keyboard.
