OUR VERDICT

Is it right for you?

This Anker 515 set is a useful candidate when you need more than a charging-only cable. Check the laptop, display, and dock capabilities as carefully as the cable rating. It is not a guarantee of full Thunderbolt 4 performance, and the manufacturer lists a downgrade when connected to a Thunderbolt 4 device.

Pros & cons

  • Up to 240W charging with compatible equipment

Before you buy

Follow the weakest part of the connection

A high-rated cable cannot add USB4 or video output to a port that does not support it. Check the computer, dock, and monitor together before expecting the advertised transfer or display modes. Charging also needs a compatible source and receiving device, not only a cable with a high wattage label.

USB4 and Thunderbolt labels are not interchangeable

The product description notes that performance is downgraded to Thunderbolt 3 when connected to a Thunderbolt 4 device. If a dock or display depends on specific Thunderbolt features, verify that requirement directly. The selected Amazon option contains two 3.3 ft cables; it is separate from the single-cable option.
